This necklace has a clay pendant and an 18 inch gold-filled chain. The layer of gold on gold-filled items is 5 to 10 times thicker than that produced by regular gold plating, and 15 to 25 times thicker than that produced by gold electroplate.
Gold-filled is a strictly regulated process that involves pressure bonding multiple layers of solid 14k gold with extreme heat over a core of high quality jeweler’s brass resulting in a durable, quality, real gold product. Although a gold-filled piece of jewellery is not solid gold, it has the same desirable properties and look of solid gold. It won't tarnish and will not rub off or turn colours.
The absolutely best thing you can do for your gold-filled jewellery is to clean occasionally using a little bit of warm water, gentle soap, and a soft cloth to dry and shine after.
